ABOUT US

The Ohio College of Clowning Arts is a non profit corporation located in Akron, Ohio. We begin our twentieth year of teaching clowning arts in September, 2008.

We began in 1989 as an outreach of the North Canton Playhouse and graduated our first class in 1990. Formed as a separate organization in 1991, we conducted our classes at Walsh University in North Canton, OH. In 1994 we moved to the University of Akron (OH) and became the Ohio Clown School.

In 1998 we moved to Hudson, Ohio and formed working relationships with the Hudson OH Board of Education and The Funny Stop Comedy Club, Cuyahoga Falls, OH. and upgraded our name to a college in 2002.

In 2008 we changed our name to The Ohio College of Clowning Arts as the result of the settlement of a dispute between the college and Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey Combined Shows, Inc. The dispute settled to the satisfaction of both parties helps Ohio’s premier school teaching clowning arts to link its future with its nineteen year past.
